MAYOR

Leadership that listens.
No hidden agenda.
Dedicated, principled, trusted.

Welcome!

Meet and greet jeanne.PNG

Your ballot must be received back by Election Day this year, Nov 4, 8pm.

FH City Hall has a red ballot dropbox outside - drop your ballot there without getting out of your car!

I want to keep Fruit Heights the gem of the county that it is.  I want to provide leadership that listens, communicates, and is drama-free.  Our city deserves nothing less.  I believe in promoting Fruit Heights businesses while preserving  Fruit Heights' residential charm.

Connection in my community, public service, and my love and gratitude for the blessings of this free country -- these are the drivers of my desire to serve you as Mayor of our beautiful city. I strongly believe that good people should step up to serve wherever they can—I can serve our community in this way, and would be honored if you give me the chance to do so!

Eight years ago, I ran for and was elected to our City Council.  I was able to help improve communication by working on needed updates to our city's website, which today is miles from where it was then – huge kudos to our awesome city staff!  I represented our city at the Utah League of Cities and Towns all four years of my term, and will continue to do so as Mayor, interfacing with other cities and influencing bills that affect us all as they go through the session.  (Housing, water, GS Lake, and growth management continue to be the looming issues).  I also spent hours studying our city budget, reviewing ordinance updates, and forming valued relationships with other Councilmembers, our city staff, and of course residents – our city has talented people at every level.  I’ve learned something from each one of them.

Besides this background, I bring with me principles of transparency, of fiscal conservatism, of fact-based and drama-free communication, and of the critical need to gather all sides of any given story or issue.

A mayor is not a president who enacts an agenda.  The Mayor's role, in my view, is to lead through fostering good-faith, open exchange in Council and with staff and residents, making sure all sides are heard and considered.  It's not about who is right, but rather about what is right for Fruit Heights.  More heads arrive at better solutions. This is the way representative government should function.

In recent years, we have seen the growth of anger-button pathology that constitutes online political discourse--incomplete headlines calculated to enrage readers.  The news environment is more fractured than ever, and we are all looking at a different set of facts.  I have learned there is always more to the story, and being curious is wiser than being quick to condemn.  I value the civil exchange of ideas, and the humanity of each individual.

This of course includes hearing the ideas and perspectives of residents.  Please reach out to me anytime to discuss your concerns, or your great ideas for ways to improve our city!  I want to hear them.

If these values resonate with you, I ask for your support--a donation if you are able, a yard sign in your lawn, and most especially, your vote this November 4.  Thank you!
